FRONTLINE possesion
During our show in TwiceBar, at 2nd Poppies lane, Kuta Bali, an inspirations idea came through our head and we thought what if all of indie band/new band in Kuta and Denpasar area gather and make a sort of community where all the band group in Kuta and Denpasar could share and put their ideas together. Where we could hang out and pour our imagination into reality. Where we might give all of our best ideas. Where we ought squeeze our brain and give our best perfomance.
At last after we tried to organize all of them together, we made our dream come through.
Added with support from the third party- R & B- and all the indie band in Kuta and Denpasar area, FRONTLINE Community was form.
With this new community, the social value and the loyalty among each band increasing.
And it also would be an advance for other band.
For now this form of community still prepare all kind of things that have something to do with indies music, such as occasion, schedule, etc.

VH1 Classic Presents the U.S. Premiere of 'Seven Ages Of Rock' a Landmark Seven-Part Series Exploring the Story of Rock Music Premiering on VH1 Classi
LOS ANGELES, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- "Seven Ages of Rock," a
co-production with the BBC, will make its U.S. debut on VH1 Classic Monday,
December 17. MTV veteran Mark Goodman narrates this 7-part series, which
showcases the various genres of rock music that impacted and shaped pop
culture.
From the birth of rock to metal to alternative rock -- there is a genre
for every music fan -- some that have stood the test of time and others
that have not. This exclusive series will delve into what made each of
these genres of music resonate with fans across the world.
Each of the seven episodes will take a deeper look into the individual
ages of rock by evaluating the music itself -- breaking down key tracks,
getting behind the songs and composing ideas, as well as looking into the
social influences of the time and the social context that influenced the
progression of the music. Throughout each episode viewers will hear from
some of rock music's biggest icons including Keith Richards, David Bowie,
Roger Waters, Lou Reed, Ozzy Osbourne, James Hetfield, Deborah Harry, Gene
Simmons, Roger Taylor, Stewart Copeland, Bruce Springsteen, Steven Van

Here's a breakdown of each night:
Episode 1: The Birth of Rock - Rock music emerges in the late 60's as a
fresh branch of rock 'n' roll. Becoming popular through artists like The
Who, Cream, and The Rolling Stones, rock groups exemplified this era of
protest through a tone of seriousness in their music.
Episode 2: Art/Prog Rock - As rock music made a name for itself,
upcoming rock artists began to experiment with their sound. Groups
including The Velvet Underground, David Bowie, Pink Floyd and Genesis were
all a part of this innovative and varied sound.
Episode 3: Heavy Metal - A new sound that emerged from the UK, heavy
metal conveyed an intense and powerful resonance. Artists like Black
Sabbath and Led Zeppelin paved the way by establishing the heavy sound
while artists like Metallica and Motley Crue added their own rock 'n' roll
twist.
Episode 4: Punk - Continuing with the evolution of the sound of rock, a
genre of music emerged in the 1970s that can best be described as anti-
establishment. Demonstrated by bands including The Sex Pistols, The Clash
and Television, these artists created music that went hand-in-hand with the
rebellion of youth at the time, often containing lyrics that incorporated
political outrage and a "do-it-yourself" attitude.
Episode 5: Stadium Rock - Rock music became more dominant in mainstream
pop culture in the 80s allowing artists such as Queen, The Police, Bruce
Springsteen, and U2 to sell out stadium-sized venues.
Episode 6: Alternative/Grunge - Influenced by punk, bands including
Nirvana, REM, Sonic Youth, and Pearl Jam shunned the traditions of the
music industry and signed with independent record labels. Despite their
deviance from traditional mainstream success, many alternative bands were
commercially successful.
Episode 7: UK Indie - Growing out of the UK punk scene, bands such as
The Smiths, Oasis, and the Stone Roses possessed an independent spirit that
embraced their artistic power and financial control. These groups created
music that provided a strong and sometimes arrogant counterpoint to the pop
sounds dominating the charts.
"Seven Ages of Rock," a VH1 Classic co-production with the BBC is

Indie-rock fest's diversity delights

Chicago is becoming a summer destination for indie-rock fans from around the country, thanks to events such as the Pitchfork Music Festival this past weekend.
The sold-out, three-day fest in Union Park was packed with Chicagoans, of course, but a substantial number of fans also traveled from other cities to see musical acts ranging from punk godfathers Sonic Youth and avant-garde matriarch Yoko Ono to hip-hop duo Clipse and heavy-metal monsters Mastodon.
The weather was nearly perfect and the festival appeared to come off with few hitches -- other than the long lines for food and bathrooms that one would expect. A show by Canadian singer Dan Deacon got a little bit out of control with fans surfing on top of the audience; the crowded conditions there prompted the festival to end that performance early.
The festival was marred somewhat by sound problems and technical difficulties. Some bands, including Grizzly Bear and Chicago's Ponys, battled with instruments becoming totally inaudible.
Others found themselves fighting feedback. "It's a weird mix, but it's kind of cool. It sounds like 'Sister Ray,'" said Steven Malkmus, referring to a noisy Velvet Underground classic. The sound he was trying to put across, however, was solo acoustic guitar.
Shine on brightly
Most of the audio snafus got worked out reasonably quickly, though, and the quality of the musical performances did shine through the murk.
Run by Chicago's Pitchfork music Web site, the festival also included a special night organized by the British music fest All Tomorrow's Parties. The three artists on Friday played complete albums from their back catalogues: Slint did "Spiderland," Wu Tang Clan rapper GZA performed "Liquid Swords," and Sonic Youth reprised "Daydream Nation," a majestic performance that may have been the festival's high point.

Another highlight was Cat Power's Saturday night show with her new backup band, Dirty Delta Blues. As the group's name suggests, it was a bluesy set, with organ and guitar licks giving Cat Power's music a sound akin to 1960s British-invasion blues rock. Although Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) apologized a few times, apparently unhappy with the sound or her vocals, her voice was in fine form. In addition to her own tunes, she played covers such as "Satisfaction" and "The Dark Side of the Street." Sticking to lead vocals without playing guitar or piano, she kept the show on track, unlike some of her erratic concerts of the past.
Yoko? Oh no!
Revered by many, but also frequently mocked for her music, Ono was the final performer Saturday. By including her in the festival, the Pitchfork folks made the case that she was a big influence on many of today's cutting-edge rockers. Perhaps that's the case, but a good portion of the audience headed for the exits as soon as Ono began her trademark caterwauling. Those who stayed got to hear her duet with a wild guitar solo by Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth.
Other moments that stood out from the weekend included Grizzly Bear's quiet and subtle compositions; Battles' smart (if somewhat gimmicky) and mostly instrumental math rock; Deerhunter's freaky psychedelia; Menonmena's intriguing mix of piano, baritone sax, guitar and strong vocals; and the New Pornographers' endless parade of one great pop hook after another.
Closing the fest, De La Soul defined the sort of fan that Pitchfork is designed to attract. One of the group's rappers asked how many "hip-hop heads" were in the crowd. "We're talking about people who don't need radio or TV to tell them what good (stuff) is," he said.

Orange County Singer / Song Writers Competition - Music From Home
SunCal Companies announced second installment of music from home program to help build community by finding one aspiring voice currently living in the area.
Irvine, CA (PRWEB) June 30, 2007 -- Music From Home-Orange County, SunCal Companies' original-music sponsorship and emerging-artist support program, is seeking singers/songwriters based in Orange County. On
Thursday, June 28, SunCal Companies began conducting a search for the finest, freshest voice in the area and provide that person $10,000 to help them achieve wider exposure. SunCal's launched the search with a press conference at The Irvine Spectrum on June 28, and Indie-rock band The Future (who won Music From Home-Antelope Valley, the first installment of the competition), performed at the press conference.

The winner of Music From Home-Orange County will perform in conjunction with SunCal's Marblehead Coastal (San Clemente) and Pacifica San Juan (San Juan Capistrano) communities. A special festival concert featuring the winner will be held at Pacifica San Juan on a date to be announced.
Music From Home-Orange County is part of the Music From Home emerging-artist support program created by SunCal Companies, which designs and builds smartly planned communities throughout California and the West. SunCal identifies the best aspiring artists in local cities and towns and supports them through significant sponsorships and opportunities for expression.
"We develop more than just land," said David Soyka, SunCal's Senior Vice President of Marketing. "We build community, and for us, it begins with helping local artists reach their potential by giving them the platform upon which to express themselves. There's more to our communities than just the homes, parks, schools and shops: It's what goes on inside that matters most."
In addition to the $10,000 music sponsorship, SunCal will provide the winner of Music From Home-Orange County with one year's assistance from the Music From Home Artist Advisory Council, which SunCal has established to provide sustained support to the competition's winner.
The Music From Home Artist Advisory Council includes individuals who will meet with the winner on a quarterly basis, and function in a general advisory role with post-recording needs such as marketing, public relations and other relevant "artist and repertoire" areas.
"Orange County has become a force in the music industry. Bands such as No Doubt (and Gwen Stefani) hail from this area, and we're certain there are many more extremely talented Orange County singer/songwriters who have significantly developed their craft and deserve a platform for it to be heard," said Soyka.
"We believe the winner of Music From Home-Orange County will express a sense of promise and discovery, and this is precisely the point of Music From Home: To redefine what it means to develop a community. This process - which engages not just SunCal, but the entire Orange County region - is a part of SunCal's philosophy: To encourage strong social values and give our communities a level of depth you won't find in other places."
All musicians interested in entering the Music From Home-Orange County competition must adhere to the following submission guidelines and deadlines.
Contestants must be at least 18 years old.
Contestants must be residents of Orange County.
Contestants must submit entries by August 10, 2007.
All submissions must include a photo, a brief letter describing the contestant's history and inspiration in creating their original music, and either a mailed CD, an emailed audio file or an emailed video file of the song submission.
All submissions must be original music by a singer/songwriter. The singer/songwriter must be able to accompany him/herself live on-stage, or with supporting musicians.
Contestants may not submit more than two songs for consideration.
The $10,000 prize money is to be used for the continued benefit of the winning contestant's artistic pursuit.
